One of the kids is sick this morning, so I stayed home from church with the kids. We had a devotion time instead, singing worship songs, reading bible stories, and praying together. One of the stories we read was the story of Jesus healing a paralyzed man from Mark 2. God reminded me of some important things while I was reading to the kids.
In the story, four men lower bring a man to Jesus who cannot walk, believing Jesus can heal him. They are unable to get to Jesus because of the great crowd that has filled the house where Jesus is preaching.Undeterred by the crowd, they dig a hole in the roof of the house and lower the paralyzed man to Jesus.
Here’s the crazy part—Jesus praises the faith, not of the paralyzed man, but of the men who lowered him through the roof. It is because of their faith that the paralyzed man is healed.
I have some friends going through some difficult situations in their lives. I’ve found myself thinking their situations are hopeless. But perhaps God is calling me to have faith that he can intervene in their situations. Perhaps God is going to work through my faith to bring healing to them.
God, may I have faith that you can bring healing in even the most difficult situations. May you work through my faith to bring healing to others.
