Yesterday was a big day for Marion – our new Sonic restaurant opened.
In Atlanta we lived about a mile from a Sonic, so this feels a bit like our life in Atlanta invading our life in Marion. Reminds me of the Kingdom of God – where heaven invades earth.
Anyway, the kids were really excited. We had opening day dinner at Sonic, including cheeseburgers, corn dogs, french fries, onion rings, cherry lime aid, coconut cream pie shakes, and police officers directing traffic in the parking lot.
From the Marion Chronicle-Tribune:
Area residents got their first taste of Sonic Drive-In’s new Marion restaurant as the facility officially opened Monday.
Bill Frizzell, director of operations of Georgia-based Highland Foods, which is the franchisee for the Marion Sonic, is anticipating at least as big of an opening as the Lafayette Sonic, which Frizzell said was the fourth-biggest opening in Sonic’s history.
“It’ll definitely be a grand slam,” Frizzell said.
Oh yeah, the new YMCA opened yesterday too.
